Trying to Catch Ship Lebanon Al smuggled weapons to Syria
Beirut (ANTARA/Xinhua-0ANA/AFP) - Marine in Lebanon, without consultation with the naval forces of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was arrested on Friday, a vessel attempting to smuggle a large quantity of weapons to Syria, said the NBN-TV network.
Security sources told Xinhua that the ship was from the coast of the northern city of Batroun, Lebanon caught and brought into port Selaata in northern Lebanon, where some crew members were arrested.
The source added that the Navy is conducting the examination in three containers on the ship full of suspicion of weapons and ammunition.
Meanwhile, said UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday that the Syrian government "violated" a peace plan presented, which was approved for the remaining troops and heavy weapons into the cities.
