Sarkozy Claiming Losing to Holland
Metrotvnews.com, Paris: Nicolas Sarkozy has admitted defeat in the presidential election over his rival, Socialist Party Francois Hollande on Sunday (04.06). Sarlkozy also congratulated his successor, and a success for him.
"French president-elect must be respected," Sarkozy said in Paris on Sunday evening, in front of thousands of supporters when the results of the calculations quickly and a number of other official count showed victories for Hollande.
"I am responsible for the defeat in this election," said Sarkozy, who also expressed his gratitude to supporters, the majority of tears watching the speech.
French national television France 24 said Hollande percent of the vote won the election with 51.9 percent. Official results will be announced shortly and is expected to know not too far off the mark from the fast calculation.
As the second largest economy in Europe, France has 46 million registered voters, about 82 percent is expected to use its voting rights on Sunday.
